Be A Georgia GOP Delegate (source page)

Tired of RINOs (Republicans In Name Only) getting a “free pass” at your local GOP?  Tired of insider cronies sullying the good name of “conservatism” and “libertarianism”?

Then take back the GOP from the ne’re-do-wells by becoming a Georgia GOP Delegate!

Purpose

The purpose of the GOP Convention is to elect “qualified registered resident voters” from the State of Georgia who believe in the principles of the Republican Party to be Delegates and Alternates to County, Congressional District, State and National Conventions.

We need Ron Paul supporters like you to fill as many of those Delegate positions as possible!  Even if you can’t go through the whole process, we really need you at the early levels.  Your presence will insure victory!

Step 1: Prepare for your local GOP mass precinct meeting.

Your local GOP mass precinct meeting is open to all qualified electors (registered voters) who “believe in the principles of the Republican Party”.  This means you!

First, confirm your voter registration info: http://www.sos.ga.gov/mvp/

  • Which precinct are you registered in?

Next, contact your county GOP organization and determine the exact date and time for your precinct’s mass meeting.

Step 2: Recruit your neighbors to attend the mass precinct meeting.

Recruit as many of your neighbors as possible to attend the meeting with you who will support Ron Paul (or you).  Remember that your neighbors must be registered voters in order to participate.

Make sure you everyone you recruit Signs up to be a Georgia GOP delegate for Ron Paul!  This is crucial to our coordination efforts!

Contact your Georgia for Ron Paul county coordinator for a list of neighbors who are registered to vote.

Step 3: Attend and become a Delegate to your County Convention.

Attend the mass precinct meeting and nominate yourself (along with any like-minded neighbors) to become a delegate to the County Convention.

Arrive one hour early to ensure that you are seated.

Bring photo ID and proof of voter registration.  If you can not find a voter registration card, bring a printout of your voter registration information from the Georgia Secretary of State My Voter Page.

There may be an attendance fee, so bring enough cash to cover the fee if applicable.  However, if that is a problem for you, please let us know; we will make sure that no one’s economic status will prevent them from attending any of these meetings!

If you bring enough supporters with you, you can simply make a motion to ‘suspend the rules’ and elect your slate of delegates.  If you don’t have a majority of the vote in your precinct, you will need to work to build a coalition of supporters.

Be sure that all of the delegate paperwork is properly filled out and signed before the meeting concludes.  If possible, take responsibility for delivering the paperwork to your county GOP, and make a copy or take a picture for your records.

Steps 4: Prepare for the County Convention.

As a delegate you have a right to obtain a list of delegates to the County Convention.

First, contact your county GOP (repeatedly) to obtain the lists of delegates.

Second, identify like-minded delegates and reach out to them (phone call, e-mail, etc.). If you are unsure, just be bold and start calling.

Tell the other delegates about your passion for your country, your political ideals, and your desire to win a Delegate slot to the District and State Conventions.

Note that you may need to look up delegates’ phone numbers in order to contact them.

Step 5: Attend your County Convention.

Attend your County Convention on Saturday, March 10th, 2012.

Arrive no later than 9:00 AM to ensure that you are seated.

Nominate yourself (along with any like-minded neighbors) to become a delegate to the District and State Conventions.

Make a list of all other Delegates that are elected to the District and State Conventions.

These are the most important steps that you can take right now to help Ron Paul’s election efforts in Georgia!  After the County conventions, we will post further steps on how to progress through the District, State, and National conventions.  However, our chances of electing delegates to the District, State, and National conventions rely completely on our turnout to the precinct meetings and county conventions.
